Earlier this year I wrote an article on auctions at self-storage lockers in the Fredericksburg area. Basically when someone stops paying rent on their self storage locker and several months and warnings pass, the owner of the facility auctions off the contents of the locker. The potential bidders are allowed only a quick glance at the locker before deciding whether and how much to bid on the contents a few moments later. One long-time auctioneer called it a “poor man’s Vegas.”

Apparently I wasn’t the only person who found this process pretty fascinating. A&E has built a TV series around storage auctions called “Storage Wars.” It premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. Click here for more.
